A reshuffle of the fixture dates
Because of the impact of local road works on the limited parking capacity at the venue, a decision has been made by Brighton Council to make Stanmer Park unavailable for the London League Cyclo-Cross event due to be held on January 31. Preston Park YCC have reluctantly been forced to cancel Round 15 of the league.
Also, as previously reported, the National CX Championships have had to be postponed because of frozen conditions in Sutton Park, Birmingham, and have now been re-scheduled for 6/7th February, which causes a clash of dates with Round 16 of the league. Bill Wright, the promoter for Round 16, has now managed to swap that round to Herne Hill on 31st January.
Fixture List now looks like:-
- 24 January - London League Rd 14, Team Darenth, Wilmington Grammar School, Common Lane, Wilmington, DA2 7DA
- 31 January - London League Rd 15, Arctic Premier RT/Herne Hill YCC, Herne Hill Stadium, Burbage Road, London SE24 9HE
- 6/7 February - No London League. National Champs, Sutton Park, Birmingham
- 14 February - London Team Champs, Crawley Wheelers, Great Walstead School, East Mascalls Lane, Lindfield, Haywards Heath, West Sussex, RH16 2QL - info
Rankings
The overall rankings will now be decided from riders best 8 results during the season (not best 9 as previously advertised).
Two event updates from the Mosquito London/SE Cross League concerning the Team Champ and Round 14.
Team Champs
Crawley Wheelers have set up an on-line entry form for entries for the Team Champs and races on 14th Feb. It can be accessed from the following link to the Crawley Wheelers web site where the on-line entry form is as well as an entry form to down load -
Round 14
Round 14 of the London League will be held at Wilmington Grammar School, Common Lane, Wilmington, DA2 7DA.
This venue was used last time for the 2009 Team Championships and featured some good racing on the combination of playing fields and wooded sections.
Promoter, Paul Warner says "The course will be slightly different from last year with some new sections in the woods"

Thank you for helping to get cross on the BBC!
Around 60 riders turned up last Thursday for an impromptu training session and race at Herne Hill that was being filmed for the BBC news.
Special thanks fo to Bill Wright and Gary Lingard for running the session at the last minute, to the guys and gals from Rollapalluza for letting us use their fab Muddy Hell course, to National Champion Jody Crawforth for taking time out to come down and be interviewed and of course to everyone who came along and helped make it such a fun day.
We've not been given a firm date for when the footage will be shown, but as soon as we know we'll let you all know.
Get 'Cross on the BBC and make your mum proud on Thursday 5th November.
The BBC would like to do a short feature on Cyclo-Cross for the national weekend news, and we need your help to make it happen.
The film crew and presenter can't film at weekends so instead of a race we're inviting them to a one off mid-week session at Herne Hill on Thursday 5th November.
National champion Jody Crawforth has kindly agreed to come along, but we also need riders of all ages and abilities to take part in some training, riding and maybe some racing. This will also be a chance to promote Herne Hill velodrome and help ensure its future, so please do come and have a go!
Filming starts at 1pm on Thursday 5th November and finishes at 4pm.
If you think you can help please email ken.iino@gmail.com - if you can't please let others in your club know and ask them to get in touch.
Cheers!

Archer RC to introduce timing chips
for all riders at Round 6 on 25 October
The Archer RC cyclo cross race on, Sunday, 25 October at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit will utilise transponders for the first time in the UK for a cyclo cross race as far is known.
This will provide a tremendous technical back up to the normal judging panel at the sixth round of the London/SE Cyclo Cross League says Andrew Postings, the organiser. With a likely field of over 80 riders with very mixed abilities from novice to expert it is likely that riders may be lappped by the winner up to three or four times. In fact last year only one rider was not lapped. The transponders show each time a rider crosses the line.
As the transponders cost £85 each, BC members will have to leave their licence and non-members something of value as a deposit to guarantee their return. All types of bicycles can be used and mountain bikers are especially welcome.
The Archer RC cyclo cross is the sixth event in the long established London League and the fourth event in the second year of the Central League, and will be on a slightly revised route from last year with new trails having been cut and the main grassed areas having the benefit of being very recently cut. Ideas from the recent Blenheim cyclo cross, where Archer club officials were involved, will be introduced.

Round 4 - October 11 Cancelled
The fourth round of the Mosquito Bikes London/SE Cyclo Cross League set to be played out on October 11 at Strood has been cancelled.
Race rounds are not called off lightly and this event cannot go ahead because the race organiser has been injured whilst riding his bike.
The London/SE League has tried to find ways to put the race on but this has been deemed impossible.
We wish Rob a quick recovery.
